Pregnancy cont.

I loved the few shots I got by the window. I was taking a different picture with the flash just with mom,
but when the little one came over to check up on things I turned off the flash and snapped two or three candid ones.
I love candid photography, if you havent figured that out by now ;)
Stick around, there is more:

This was unplanned. The little one was finished with the shots and undressed and running around.

Great shot! Honestly, your talent blows me away time and time again…
I have to ask about the post-processing. :) Have you done anything to darken the space under the window? I always wonder how you get the light on only the objects you want and whether it’s something you do while taking the photos (preparing the environment etc) or do you fix it later?
Thank you, Vanya.
Post processing involved darkening darks a lot to get the light to isolate the people on the picture and tinting the black and white. I find I do this with most b&w shots for online viewing..
It was the good light – straight from the window, that prompted me to take the picture in the first place. Mom was sitting right in that rectangle of light that falls on the wall.
I did burn a bit under the window, but only because there is a little bed with flowery cover, which was a bit distracting. You can still see a bit of it there.
I also lightened the window a bit more, as the screen was too strong and it made it look a bit like a prison.
I think thats about it.
Thanks so much for the tips! You know, I’ve always been afraid to use the dodge/burn tool (in an attempt to get a “perfect” histogram), but the more I look at pictures which have lots of black with the main objects bathed in light, the more I like it. :) I need to try more things outside the square..
Wow! What an amazing shot:)
