Winter on Toronto Islands

I left you in Guatemala and what better follow up post than snow in Canada? Right?!
This is our fourth winter while on the road and we are facing it, some of us less bravely than others, on the Toronto Islands – an amazing little rural-like, car-free, frozen in time escape from the biggest city in Canada, which is just a 10min ferry ride away.
It looked like an unreal hobbit world backdrop before the winter took the leaves, and with them all the beautiful colours, away.
(follows few weeks of gray miserable weather, slightly helped by a night of beauty here and there)
And yesterday we awoke to a blanket of snow effortlessly gifting the islands their fairyland quality back.
Today…today the sun completed the picture and even I could not resist the urge for a long squeaking walk.
The only moments when winter earns some points on the yearly competition it generally looses miserably.
P.S. Yes, I have failed about as miserably at updating this blog. Make sure if you want to keep in touch with me to visit the Facebook page, which I manage to keep up a bit more successfully. I make no promises, daharlings. Writing either flows out of me or it does not. I am apparently not very good at forcing it.
Kisses and keep warm
Wow! Was hoping your route north from Jacksonville would take you through South Carolina… Enjoy your time near the lovely Toronto!
We did stop in Charleston for a bit before continuing North. Where are you?
Greenville. Gateway to the Smoky Mountains…
Well, cough, cough…we were in Greenville for 3-4 days actually. Nice waterfall ;)
Ahh, glad to see you back on your blog! Everyone I know keeps saying how miserable snowy winter can be, but as someone who lives in the tropics seeing snow — lots of snow — is one of the things I’ve been dreaming of since I was little. Anyway, I really love that photos of yours with the CN Tower framed by trees. Just beautiful!
Bama, glad to see I have not been forgotten.
I get the appeal of winter for someone that has never gone through it. And to be frank, winter does have its magical moments, but they are few amongst the cold, squishy misery that usually keeps you inside. Still, you should experience it for sure.
These are beautiful pictures of the Toronto Islands. I specially love the skyline photo framed between the trees! I just wish I could pin it!
I used to go to Toronto Island in the 50’s. Also, I chose the summer months. lol
Great to hear from you again. How will you adapt to a less transient life style?
Hugs,
Malcolm and Donna (I wish you had been able to meet her)
