Take the population of Florence or New Orleans, move north, norther, yeah there, and sprinkle them on an island the size of – hmmm -Â a bit more than Portugal … Continue reading →

Yeah, good choice! I look forward to see your posts about your stay here in my home country :) How long to you plan to stay?
Have a nice time here.
Hey!!! Was wondering where you were? Been missing your posts (don’t have Facebook), but have been following some interviews online … it’s always lovely to hear your thoughts on the world. You are missed. x
Harpa, we are staying only 10 days. Right now we are camping around the ring road. Iceland was good to us and after 2 days of constant rain it showed us some sunshine today.
Luiza! We miss you all too.
Unfortunately it has been such a whirlwind of travel that I am barely finding time to think, let alone write.
We should be slowing down once we get to Alaska…but one never knows. Hugs
10 days is better than nothing :) Hope you can visit the small villages around the country in the East. Mjoifjordur and Seydisfjordur are two of those. Drop at the information centers to get new ideas about places where there are few tourists.
Also Westfjords and its mountains and Snaefellsnes area are also great places.
Asbyrgi and Hljodaklettar in the North.
Enjoy :)
Seems you developed a taste for bad weather and expensive countries in Europe :-)
How nice to finally read a new post from you; next time maybe with a bit more text?
For instance: I didnt know that you could do camping in Iceland. Is it not that cold after all?
We have just come back from 4 weeks in Norway and quickly decided that this is not a tent-camping destination – oh, these cold, cold nights on Hardangervidda…
Jenny, you could certainly do camping in Iceland and many people engage in this activity. If one is well equipped, it should not be a problem. Unfortunately, we are never in that category and always end up on the miserable side
Norway is much more camping friendly – excellent facilities. So, 4 weeks? How was it? I mean, other than freezing ;)
What, don’t you read my blog?? (Just kidding.) Well, it was… great, of course; we had plenty of sun in the days and pretty cold nights in the tent. Some rain as well, but it was really not that bad. We drove and climbed through some mindblowing landscapes, and we saw only a tiny part of Norway. The kids loved picking berries, fishing and crab fishing (and bathing in ice cold fiords… brrr), but …
Norway will never have our hearts as NZ or the SEA countries do. The people are just not very warm; everyone seems to be minding his own business… and the food is really not that great (except the salmon – yumm).
So, we will surely come back some day (probably as pensioners with money on hand), but only with a solid and rainproof campervan. As everyone else seems to be doing.
Now I am looking forward to your impressions about Iceland on a budget!
Sounds like you had similar experience as us of Norway. Gorgeous with cold distant people. And I love people, so I was not happy.
I hope I get a chance to write about Iceland soon. I have a few good tips on hand.
Awesome shots! especially that last one with your daughter on that pose, so cute! I haven’t been to Iceland, and I hope you guys have a great time. :)
Travel to Iceland has always been my dream. Don’t know whether it will be fulfilled or not. The whole country, its beauty seems to be magical. Your journey would be awesome because the photos explains themselves the mysteries hidden in the place.
